Talon's cake for the Blue and Gold Banquet

Tonight was Talon's Blue and Gold Banquet for cub scouts. Each year they have a father and son cake decorating contest. This year the theme was the Chinese New Year. Talon and Matt's cake won Best of Theme. They were really quite proud of their cake. Everyone thought it was really cute.

Beauchene's funny

I like to write down funny things that happen. I was feeling rather tired this afternoon so I decided to make a protein shake. While I was drinking it through a straw, of course, Beauchene was trying to get at it. So I put the straw in his mouth. Not knowing what to do with it, he pulled his mouth away from the straw and he dove his whole hand down into my shake. I let out a startling gasp and he quickly pulled his hand out and shook it. He got shake all over my shirt. Jaren was right there with us and we laughed our heads off. Beauchene again kept trying to get to my shake so I gave him the straw again in his mouth and this time he actually sucked up some shake and took several drinks.

New flooring for the Boy's room

Back on the 16th of Feb. we ripped out Talon and Jaren's bedroom carpet and put down vinyl wood squares. Talon picked out the squares. After we finished we were so tired that we just put down the kids matresses on the floor. The girls wanted to join in so all the kids had a slumber party on the new flooring. Sweeping is now a daily chore. After the carpet was gone, I noticed that the walls and door looked horribly dirty. I pulled out a "magic sponge" that I recently bought but had never used one before and cleaned all the walls, the door, and the door trip beautifully. I am sold.

Beauchene was playing in a piece of coal while Matt was building a fire in the fireplace. I couldn't resist taking a picture of him.

Today was the kids parent teacher conf. Jileigh is at level, Talon is a little below level, and Angelique is above level. So all is the same at school for the kids.

Before the conf., I took the little kids to the park. It was a gorgeous 60 degrees outside.

Friday night we finally put new flooring in our front room. We pulled out the carpet and put in vinyl wood planks. Jileigh and Talon would get the planks ready for Matt and he would put them down. They went pretty fast. The whole floor only took about 5 hours. This is Beauchene in mid-crawl on the new floor.

Last week Jileigh and Talon had history reports due for the history fair. I helped Jileigh and Matt helped Talon. We procrastinated and waited until the day before they were due to work on them. We were all up until 11pm getting everything typed up. I helped Jileigh a bit more that a parent should have but we picked a rather hard topic, The events that led to the Revolutionary war. Even their Aunt Candy helped us with the outline. Matt typed for Talon exactly what Talon said. I couldn't help myself, but I edited it after they were done. We were all glad and relieved when they were done and graded. They both passed which was all I was expecting.

Kefir

I have started a new holistic thing. I got some kefir grains for a lady in my neighborhood and started making kefir. It is like yogurt but better for you. It tastes like plain yogurt but a little worse. I have been drinking a cup a day and Talon gets a half a cup. This morning was 4th day and unfortunately, Talon grossed himself out over it and threw it up. He will probably never take it again. I was giving it to him because kefir is known to really help those with ADHD. I will try to find a way to disguise it in something like a smoothie for him to drink. Sorry to talk about poop, but it has really helped my nursing baby to regulate what lands in his diaper. That to me makes it all worth it.

Matt has been snoring a lot lately and actually was having a problem with sleep apnea. I made him buy some Breath Right strips and wear them at night. He sleeps so much better and quieter so Beachene and I sleep so much better. Those strips are worth the money!

Talon's project

It has been a couple of weeks since I have made myself sit down to do another entry. Life is so busy just trying to keep up. During that time I finally set up the baby quilt that I volunteered to put together for the humanitarian aid. After I got it set up, Talon decided that he wanted to help tie it and did almost the whole thing himself. I think I did only 3 ties. It kept him busy with something positive.

Jaren's beautiful hair - before

Today I cut Jaren's hair. I cut off at least 3 inches. I did take a before and after picture. His eyes are hurting him again. They are very sensitive to any light. I am out of the drop I use for them.

Safia wore her pretty new dress today that she got for her birthday from her Grandma H. Beauchene took a 3 1/2 hour nap.

Jileigh and Angelique fought a lot today with Talon. He loves to push their buttons.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day, 60 degrees. Matt spent 5 hours working at a side job. Then we went shopping and spent all the money he earned. We bought vinyl tiles for the boys room. I am looking forward to ripping out their carpet. We also bought new shoes for the girls.
